Lager 157 was founded in 1999 in Gällstad, at the heart of Sweden’s textile region, with the business idea of “branded clothing at up to half the price.” This customer case shows how an instore solution has evolved in step with Lager 157’s growth – from a clear business concept to an efficient and scalable retail environment for affordable fashion. Prior to this, in 1989, Stefan Palm started the business under the name Billighetscompagniet in Ulricehamn. During the first seven months after opening in Gällstad, the company generated SEK 23 million in revenue and reported a profit already in its first year.
During the 2000s, the assortment was further developed, private labels took on a larger role, and control over the entire value chain was strengthened. By 2015, the transformation into “the new Lager 157” was complete – the assortment now consists entirely of in-house brands with a clear focus on denim and basics. Today, Lager 157 is an established player in the value fashion segment, with a strong presence both in-store and online, offering a proposition centered on quality, simplicity, and high customer value.
