Norrøna is a Norwegian family-owned company that has, for generations, developed clothing and equipment for forests and mountains. In this customer case, we show how a visual merchandising solution for an outdoor store can reflect a brand’s identity and sustainability focus. Instore Agency has maintained a close partnership with Norrøna for many years, developing several unique solutions for in-store presentations.
The focus has been to create an outdoor retail environment where visual merchandising strengthens both the brand experience and in-store exposure. Nature is the reason Norrøna exists, and sustainability permeates the entire business. For Instore Agency, this means developing products for the retail environment that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
As part of this visual merchandising solution, wooden hangers with a rubberized surface were developed for increased durability, along with retail bags made from recycled paper with handles made from organic cotton – all to create a sustainable and cohesive in-store experience.

As a natural part of this customer case, we collaborated with Norrøna to develop a sustainable instore solution in the form of a new e-commerce bag. The challenge was to create a bag that better reflects the brand’s sustainable and functional vision than the traditional plastic-based e-commerce bag.
The result is a solution that is both durable and resistant during transport, while also being cost-effective to produce. The bag is made from uncoated paper to create a natural feel, and through smart design and sealing, the goods are effectively protected during transit.
This visual merchandising solution for an outdoor store demonstrates how thoughtful material choices and design can create a sustainable end-to-end solution – from retail to e-commerce. Together with Norrøna, we are proud to have developed a solution that not only meets today’s demands but also helps set a new standard for the future of retail.
